Falex Fretting Wear Tester

Falex Fretting Wear Tester

  • The Falex Fretting Wear Test Machine simulates the small rocking motion found in wheel bearings during transport.  It thus evaluates fretting wear protection provided by greases in a small stroke bearing, also known as 'false brinelling'.
  • Two sets of roller element thrust bearings are clamped by the setup, under a constant load, and the rocking motion is created by an excentric arm on a fixed speed motor.
  • After typical test durations of 22 hours at room temperature, wear damage is determined by measuring the mass loss of the bearing races
  • ASTM D4170
